Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Collections Specialist to join our dynamic Finance team in Dandenong. This role is crucial in managing a portfolio of accounts, focusing on the timely recovery of outstanding debts while maintaining positive customer relationships. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of financial regulations, excellent negotiation skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional service. You will be responsible for implementing effective collection strategies, resolving payment disputes, and collaborating with internal teams to achieve collection targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of overdue accounts through proactive communication and negotiation.
- Develop and implement effective collection strategies to maximize debt recovery rates.
- Conduct thorough investigations into payment discrepancies and resolve customer inquiries efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of all collection activities and customer interactions.
- Adhere to all relevant financial regulations, company policies, and ethical guidelines.
- Collaborate with credit risk, legal, and customer service teams to address complex issues.
- Identify and escalate high-risk accounts or potential fraud cases.
- Prepare regular reports on collection performance and outstanding balances.
- Provide excellent customer service while navigating sensitive financial discussions.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in collections or a related financial recovery role.
- Proven negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in using collections software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Sound understanding of debt collection laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- Experience with specific banking collection systems.
- Knowledge of Australian consumer credit laws.
