Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Commissioning Engineer to join our dynamic team in Washington D.C. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful startup, testing, and handover of complex industrial and building automation systems. As a Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for verifying system functionality, identifying and resolving issues, and optimizing performance to meet project specifications and client expectations. This is an on-site position requiring hands-on technical work and collaboration with various stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive commissioning plans for various systems, including HVAC, building management systems (BMS), power distribution, and industrial control systems.
- Perform functional tests, operational checks, and performance verification to ensure systems meet design specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose system malfunctions, hardware failures, and software issues, implementing effective solutions.
- Collaborate with project managers, design engineers, installation teams, and clients to ensure seamless project execution and handover.
- Develop and maintain detailed commissioning documentation, including test reports, punch lists, and as-built drawings.
- Provide technical training and support to client personnel on system operation and maintenance.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols, quality standards, and environmental regulations during all commissioning activities.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in commissioning, field service, or system integration within an industrial, building automation, or energy sector.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, P&IDs, control logic, and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of control systems (PLC, SCADA, DCS) and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, BACnet, Ethernet/IP).
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.
- Willingness to travel locally within the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and occasionally to other sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., PE, LEED AP).
- Experience with Siemens specific automation platforms (e.g., Desigo CC, TIA Portal, PCS 7).
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles as applied to industrial control systems.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and codes.
