Job Description
The City of Greater Bendigo is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Council Events Coordinator to join our community engagement team. This pivotal role is responsible for the successful planning, coordination, and delivery of a diverse portfolio of local festivals and markets within the Bendigo region. You will be instrumental in bringing community visions to life, ensuring events are well-organised, safe, and contribute positively to our vibrant local culture. This role requires a passion for community engagement, meticulous organisational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and execute a calendar of local festivals and markets in accordance with council objectives and community needs.
- Coordinate all logistical aspects of events, including venue selection, supplier management, permits, safety plans, and waste management.
- Engage with community groups, local businesses, and stakeholders to foster collaboration and partnerships for event success.
- Manage event budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
- Develop and implement marketing and communication strategies to promote events to the wider community.
- Oversee on-site event management, ensuring smooth operations and prompt resolution of any issues.
- Conduct post-event evaluations, gathering feedback and preparing reports to inform future event planning.
- Ensure all events comply with relevant council policies, regulations, and health and safety standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in event coordination or project management, preferably within a community or local government setting.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in budget management and financial tracking.
- A valid Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Event Management, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience working with local government processes and regulations.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards for public events.
- First Aid certification.
