Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our Finance team as Council Finance Support, specifically focusing on Rates & Accounts. In this vital role, you will play a key part in the financial administration of the council, ensuring accurate processing and management of council tax, business rates, and other sundry accounts. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to public service and develop your finance administration skills within a supportive local government environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing council tax and business rates payments and adjustments.
- Handling enquiries from residents and businesses regarding their accounts, both via phone and and email.
- Assisting with the reconciliation of financial records and preparing reports.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records using internal systems.
- Collaborating with other departments to resolve account discrepancies and issues.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and council policies.
Required Skills
- Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines.
- Customer service orientation and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a finance administration or accounts role.
