Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and reliable Court Runner / Legal Courier to join our fast-paced legal team in Calgary. This active role is crucial for the efficient operation of our firm, involving the timely and secure delivery and retrieval of legal documents to and from various courts, government offices, and client locations throughout Calgary. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess excellent organizational skills, and thrive in an environment that requires constant movement and quick thinking. This is an on-site position vital to our daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport legal documents, packages, and correspondence between our office, courts, government agencies, and other locations as required.
- File legal documents at various courts and government offices, ensuring all procedures are followed correctly.
- Retrieve documents and information as requested by legal professionals.
- Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, pick-ups, and other tasks.
- Assist with photocopying, scanning, and preparing documents for delivery when needed.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all legal materials.
- Manage time effectively to meet strict deadlines and urgent requests.
- Communicate proactively with legal staff regarding delivery status or potential delays.
Required Skills
- Proven reliability and punctuality with a strong work ethic.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to walk, stand, and carry packages for extended periods.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Thorough knowledge of Calgary city streets and public transit routes.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A professional and discreet demeanor.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a courier, delivery, or legal support role.
- Familiarity with court systems and legal procedures in Alberta.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
