Job Description
Shopify is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Virtual Product Photographer to join our network of creative professionals. In this fully remote contract role, you will be responsible for capturing high-quality product imagery from the comfort of your home studio. We will ship a variety of products directly to you, and your task will be to stage, photograph, and edit compelling visuals that adhere to Shopify’s brand guidelines and help our merchants showcase their items effectively. This role requires a keen eye for detail, proficiency in photography and editing software, and the ability to manage your own schedule and equipment to meet deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and manage product shipments at your home location.
- Set up a professional home photography studio suitable for various product types.
- Plan and execute product photoshoots according to creative briefs and brand guidelines.
- Capture high-resolution, sharp, and well-lit images that highlight product features.
- Perform post-production editing, including color correction, cropping, retouching, and background clean-up using industry-standard software.
- Ensure all images meet specified technical and aesthetic requirements before submission.
- Organize and upload final image files to designated platforms within agreed-upon deadlines.
- Maintain clear and proactive communication with project managers regarding progress and any potential issues.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in digital photography, including understanding of lighting, composition, and exposure.
- Expertise with professional photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop).
- Ability to set up and operate a basic home photography studio (lighting, backdrop, camera).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection.
- Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines independently.
- Familiarity with various camera equipment and lenses.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in e-commerce product photography.
- A portfolio showcasing diverse product photography work.
- Experience with stop-motion or 360-degree product photography.
- Familiarity with the Shopify platform and its merchant needs.
- Degree or diploma in Photography, Visual Arts, or a related field.
