Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and physically fit Drivers Mate / Porter to join our delivery team based in Bulwell, Nottinghamshire. This role is crucial in ensuring our furniture deliveries are made efficiently and safely to our customers’ homes. You will work alongside our experienced drivers, providing support with loading, unloading, and navigating routes. Early starts are a common aspect of this role, ensuring our customers receive their new furniture promptly. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the driver with the safe and efficient loading and unloading of furniture onto and off the delivery vehicle.
- Navigate routes effectively, using maps or sat-navs, and ensuring timely deliveries.
- Interact professionally and courteously with customers, providing excellent service at their homes.
- Help to assemble basic furniture items in customers' homes where required.
- Ensure all delivery paperwork is completed accurately and returned to the depot.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, particularly regarding manual handling and vehicle safety.
- Communicate any issues or delays to the transport office promptly.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift and carry heavy items safely.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a two-person team.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for paperwork and navigation.
- A positive and can-do attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a delivery, removals, or customer service role.
- Familiarity with the Nottinghamshire area and local road networks.
- Experience with manual handling equipment.
