Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Electrical Draftsperson with a strong focus on AutoCAD to join our dynamic engineering team in Salisbury. This office-based role is crucial for the precise creation and modification of electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts for various infrastructure projects. You will work closely with electrical engineers and project managers, translating design concepts into accurate and professional technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using AutoCAD.
- Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and design data to create accurate drafts.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers to ensure drawings meet design intent, standards, and project requirements.
- Revise and update existing drawings to reflect changes, modifications, and as-built conditions.
- Maintain organized digital archives of all electrical documentation and drawings.
- Adhere to company drafting standards, industry regulations, and safety protocols.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical input as required.
- Perform basic calculations and assist in material quantity take-offs where necessary.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and basic 3D capabilities)
- Strong understanding of electrical drafting principles and symbols
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant vocational qualification or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Familiarity with British Standards (BS) and IEE Wiring Regulations
- Experience with other CAD software (e.g., Revit, MicroStation) is a plus
- Knowledge of electrical systems for buildings or infrastructure projects
