Job Description
As the Employee Relations Lead at ANZ Bank in Cairns, you will play a critical role in fostering a positive and productive work environment. This high-impact position involves leading complex employee relations cases, developing and implementing HR policies, and providing expert advice to management and employees. You will be instrumental in ensuring fair and consistent application of workplace policies, managing grievance procedures, and promoting a culture of respect and compliance. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex employee relations issues including disciplinary actions, grievances, and performance management cases.
- Develop, review, and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and employees on all employee relations matters.
- Conduct thorough investigations into workplace complaints, ensuring fairness and impartiality.
- Mediate disputes and facilitate constructive resolutions between parties.
- Collaborate with legal counsel on sensitive and high-risk ER cases.
- Deliver training sessions to managers on effective employee relations practices and policy compliance.
- Stay abreast of changes in employment law and HR best practices, advising on necessary adjustments.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of dedicated experience in an Employee Relations role, preferably within a large organization.
- Demonstrated expertise in Australian employment law and industrial relations legislation.
- Proven ability to manage complex ER cases and conduct thorough investigations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret policies and provide sound advice.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Law, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in Industrial Relations or Employment Law.
- Experience working within the financial services industry.
- Certification in mediation or workplace investigation.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and build strong relationships at all levels of an organization.
