Job Description
Are you an enthusiastic and driven engineering student looking to gain practical, real-world experience in infrastructure design? GHD is offering an exciting student placement opportunity in our Baldivis office. This role is designed for students with little to no prior professional experience, providing comprehensive training and mentorship. You will work alongside experienced engineers on various civil infrastructure projects, learning the fundamentals of design, project support, and technical documentation. This placement is ideal for those eager to kickstart their career in civil engineering and make a tangible contribution to community-shaping projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior engineers with the preparation of design drawings and documentation.
- Conduct research and gather data pertinent to ongoing infrastructure projects.
- Learn and apply engineering software for design and analysis tasks.
- Support the team in project coordination and administrative tasks.
- Participate in site visits and project meetings as required.
- Contribute to the development of technical reports and presentations.
- Adhere to GHD's safety and quality standards.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Strong foundational understanding of engineering principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated eagerness to learn and proactive attitude.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- Prior involvement in university engineering projects or clubs.
- A valid driver's license.
