Job Description
Are you passionate about fashion, photography, and the unique style of coastal California? Santa Cruz Waves Magazine is seeking a highly motivated and creative Fashion Styling Intern to join our editorial photography team. This is an unparalleled opportunity for an aspiring stylist to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of editorial production, working closely with photographers, models, and creative directors. No prior professional experience is required; we are looking for individuals eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a supportive and inspiring environment. You will assist in all aspects of styling for our photoshoots, contributing to the visual identity of our print and digital publications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the lead stylist and photographers on set during editorial photoshoots.
- Help with mood board creation, research, and concept development for upcoming shoots.
- Organize and maintain the styling closet, including garments, accessories, and props.
- Source and return wardrobe items, adhering to deadlines and budget guidelines.
- Prepare outfits and accessories for shoots, ensuring all items are clean, pressed, and ready.
- Support with casting calls and model coordination as needed.
- Contribute creative ideas during team brainstorming sessions.
- Assist with post-shoot organization and documentation of wardrobe and accessories.
Required Skills
- Strong interest in fashion, styling, and editorial photography.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Basic understanding of fashion trends and aesthetic principles.
- Reliable transportation to and from our Santa Cruz office and shoot locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Fashion Design, Merchandising, Photography, Marketing, or a related creative field.
- Basic knowledge of photography or digital imaging software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop) is a plus.
- A personal portfolio or mood board demonstrating creative vision (can include personal projects or schoolwork).
