Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Forensic Accountant to join our dynamic team in Glasgow. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex investigations, litigation support, and dispute resolution for a wide range of clients. You will be instrumental in identifying financial discrepancies, quantifying damages, and providing expert testimony. This position requires a meticulous approach, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct financial investigations into fraud, corruption, and other financial misconduct.
  • Analyse complex financial data, records, and systems to identify irregularities and patterns.
  • Quantify economic damages in various contexts, including breach of contract, intellectual property infringement, and personal injury.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations outlining findings, methodologies, and conclusions.
  • Assist in preparing for and participating in interviews with witnesses and suspects.
  • Provide litigation support, including assistance with discovery, deposition preparation, and expert witness testimony.
  • Collaborate with legal teams, law enforcement, and other professionals.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of forensic accounting techniques, relevant laws, and regulations.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the team's ongoing development.

Required Skills

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAS, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in forensic accounting, audit, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Proven ability to analyse large volumes of complex financial data and transactions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation or similar.
  • Experience with data analytics software (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Previous experience in a Big Four or other large professional services firm.
  • Experience in expert witness work or report writing for litigation.
  • Knowledge of relevant legal frameworks pertaining to fraud and financial crime in the UK.
