Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Gallery Host to join our team at the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for visitors, ensuring a welcoming, informative, and secure experience. You will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, assisting with inquiries, managing admissions, and maintaining the safety and integrity of the artworks and exhibits within a professional government-affiliated setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and greet all visitors to the gallery with a professional and friendly demeanor.
  • Provide information about current exhibitions, gallery programs, and general facility details.
  • Process admissions, memberships, and gift shop sales using POS systems.
  • Monitor gallery spaces to ensure the safety and security of artworks and visitors.
  • Address visitor inquiries, feedback, and concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Assist with the setup and dismantling of exhibition spaces as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting reception and gallery environment.
  • Adhere to all council policies and procedures, including WHS guidelines.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and point-of-sale systems.
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a gallery, museum, or cultural institution setting.
  • Knowledge of local history, art, or cultural heritage.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience working within a government or public sector organization.
