Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Geophysicist / Seismologist to join our dynamic team in Greenwich Peninsula, London. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a wide range of challenging projects across the UK and internationally. You will be instrumental in applying geophysical and seismological principles to understand subsurface conditions, assess risks, and inform critical engineering decisions. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute geophysical surveys using various techniques (e.g., seismic refraction/reflection, GPR, resistivity).
  • Process and interpret geophysical and seismological data to characterize subsurface geology and identify potential hazards.
  • Perform seismic hazard assessments and site response analyses for infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and proposals for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Utilize specialist software for data acquisition, processing, and visualization (e.g., OpendTect, Petrel, ArcGIS, MATLAB, Python).
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, and environmental scientists.
  • Conduct site visits and field work as required, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative solutions and best practices within the geoscience team.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Geophysics, Seismology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in applying geophysical and/or seismological methods to engineering or environmental challenges.
  • Proficiency in geophysical data processing and interpretation software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated understanding of health and safety protocols for field operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant geophysical or seismological discipline.
  • Professional membership with a relevant industry body (e.g., EAGE, SEG, Geological Society).
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python or MATLAB for data analysis and automation.
  • Prior experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with UK ground conditions and geological challenges.
