Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Geophysicist/Seismologist to join our dynamic team in Fredericton. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals with a passion for applying geophysical and seismological principles to a wide range of projects, including environmental assessments, infrastructure development, natural hazard evaluation, and resource exploration. The successful candidate will contribute to project planning, data acquisition, processing, interpretation, and reporting, utilizing state-of-the-art techniques and software. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute geophysical and seismological surveys, including field data acquisition.
- Process, analyze, and interpret various geophysical data types (e.g., seismic refraction, reflection, MASW, GPR, resistivity).
- Develop and apply numerical models for seismic wave propagation and subsurface characterization.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and proposals summarizing findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, geologists, and environmental scientists.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry standards during all project phases.
- Participate in client meetings and contribute to project management and business development activities.
Required Skills
- Master's or Ph.D. in Geophysics, Seismology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in geophysical or seismological consulting/research.
- Proficiency in geophysical data processing and interpretation software (e.g., GeoSuite, Surfer, AutoCAD, ArcGIS).
- Strong understanding of seismic theory, wave propagation, and signal processing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel for fieldwork as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) designation or eligibility for registration in New Brunswick.
- Experience with passive seismic monitoring or microseismic analysis.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or MATLAB for data analysis and modeling.
- Experience with environmental or geotechnical investigations.
- Prior experience working on projects in the Canadian context.
