Job Description
AECOM is seeking a dedicated and experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Calgary, Alberta. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and oversee geotechnical investigations, including field exploration (drilling, test pitting) and laboratory testing programs.
- Perform complex geotechnical analyses for slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, and liquefaction.
- Design foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, and earthworks.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and drawings.
- Provide construction monitoring and quality assurance for geotechnical aspects of projects.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., GeoStudio, Plaxis, FLAC).
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
- Eligibility for professional engineering registration (P.Eng.) in Alberta or ability to obtain it.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Previous experience working on projects in Alberta or similar geological conditions.
- Experience with numerical modeling of geotechnical structures.
- Familiarity with Canadian geotechnical design codes and standards.
- Project management experience.
