Job Description

AECOM is seeking a dedicated and experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Calgary, Alberta. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and oversee geotechnical investigations, including field exploration (drilling, test pitting) and laboratory testing programs.
  • Perform complex geotechnical analyses for slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, and liquefaction.
  • Design foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, and earthworks.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and drawings.
  • Provide construction monitoring and quality assurance for geotechnical aspects of projects.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., GeoStudio, Plaxis, FLAC).
  • Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
  • Eligibility for professional engineering registration (P.Eng.) in Alberta or ability to obtain it.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Previous experience working on projects in Alberta or similar geological conditions.
  • Experience with numerical modeling of geotechnical structures.
  • Familiarity with Canadian geotechnical design codes and standards.
  • Project management experience.
