Job Description
Canada Post is seeking dedicated and physically active individuals to join our team as Government Mail Carriers / Postmen in Milton, ON. This is an essential and dynamic outdoor role that involves the timely and accurate delivery and collection of mail and parcels to homes and businesses across diverse routes. You will be an ambassador for Canada Post, interacting with the public and playing a crucial part in the daily lives of Canadians. This position requires excellent physical stamina, reliability, and a commitment to customer service, all while enjoying the independence of working outdoors. Full training will be provided to successful candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort and load mail and parcels into delivery vehicles.
- Safely operate a postal vehicle on designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Deliver mail and parcels to residential and commercial addresses, often requiring walking and climbing stairs.
- Collect outgoing mail from street letter boxes and businesses.
- Provide excellent customer service, answering inquiries and resolving delivery issues.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and collections.
- Adhere to safety regulations and procedures at all times.
- Handle registered mail, parcels requiring signatures, and other special deliveries.
Required Skills
- Strong physical fitness and ability to lift up to 50 lbs (22.7 kg) regularly.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Valid Class G or G2 driver's license with a good driving record.
- Excellent navigation and route-planning skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a delivery, courier, or outdoor role is an asset, but not required.
- Familiarity with the Milton, ON area and its street layout.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- A positive attitude and a passion for public service.
