Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Government Mailroom Operative to join our team in Dallas, TX. This active role is vital to ensuring the efficient flow of critical communications within a government facility. As a Mailroom Operative, you will be responsible for processing, sorting, and distributing incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and other correspondence. This position requires strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work effectively in a structured environment. Full training will be provided to ensure your success in this important role.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail, packages, and interoffice correspondence to appropriate departments and personnel.
- Process outgoing mail, including weighing, applying postage, and preparing items for pickup by various carriers.
- Operate mailroom equipment such as postage meters, mail sorters, and package scanners.
- Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing mail volumes and special deliveries.
- Ensure the security and confidentiality of all mail and sensitive documents.
- Assist with inventory management of mailroom supplies.
- Adhere to all postal regulations, company policies, and government facility security protocols.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal stakeholders regarding mail and package inquiries.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support mailroom and facility operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to read and understand written instructions and addresses.
- Basic computer literacy for logging and tracking mail.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move mail bins and packages weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to pass a background check and obtain necessary government clearances.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a mailroom, warehouse, or logistics environment is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with various mail carrier services (USPS, FedEx, UPS).
