Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Heavy Equipment / Plant Manager to oversee our extensive fleet of heavy machinery and ensure the efficient operation of our construction plants. This pivotal role involves managing all aspects of equipment maintenance, repair, and utilization, as well as optimizing plant productivity and safety. The successful candidate will be a leader with a strong technical background in heavy equipment and plant operations, capable of driving operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and repair of all heavy equipment and construction plant machinery.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Manage a team of mechanics, operators, and plant personnel, providing leadership, training, and performance evaluations.
- Monitor plant productivity and efficiency, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations and company policies within plant and equipment operations.
- Manage equipment inventory, parts procurement, and budget control for maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure equipment availability and optimal deployment across various sites.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections and perform diagnostics to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and operational hours.
- Stay current with industry advancements in heavy equipment technology and maintenance practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in managing heavy equipment and/or construction plant operations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of heavy machinery, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in maintenance management software and basic computer applications.
- Strong commitment to safety and environmental regulations.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Professional certification in heavy equipment maintenance or plant management.
- Experience with large-scale civil construction projects.
- Knowledge of Canadian safety standards and regulations (e.g., OH&S).
- Fluency in English.
