Job Description

Join our Advanced Research team as a High Energy Physics & Particle Accelerator Intern. This unique internship offers an unparalleled opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to projects at the intersection of fundamental physics and aerospace engineering. You will support ongoing research initiatives related to the application of particle physics concepts, advanced imaging techniques, material characterization using high-energy sources, or other areas where particle accelerator technology may provide innovative solutions for aerospace challenges. This role is designed for ambitious students eager to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical, industrial research environment. This is an on-site position at our Broken Arrow facility, providing direct access to our state-of-the-art laboratories and collaborative environment. Full training will be provided to ensure success in the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior researchers in conducting experiments related to high energy physics applications.
  • Support the operation, maintenance, and development of particle accelerator components or related experimental setups.
  • Collect, process, and analyze experimental data using specialized software tools.
  • Contribute to literature reviews and research summaries on relevant topics.
  • Prepare and present findings to the research team.
  • Learn and adhere to all safety protocols and best practices in a laboratory setting.
  • Collaborate with engineers and scientists across various disciplines.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong academic foundation in classical mechanics, electromagnetism, and quantum mechanics (can be foundational coursework).
  • Basic understanding of particle physics concepts or accelerator principles (introductory level knowledge).
  • Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R) is a plus, but willingness to learn is key.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior coursework or projects related to particle accelerators, detector physics, or high energy experimental techniques.
  • Experience with CAD software or simulation tools (e.g., COMSOL, CST Studio Suite).
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated interest in aerospace applications of advanced physics.
