Job Description

Join our essential hospital team as a Food Tray Deliverer, playing a vital role in patient well-being at St Thomas’ Hospital. This active position involves ensuring timely and accurate delivery of meals to patients on various wards, providing a friendly and reassuring presence during their recovery. You will be responsible for transporting food trolleys, distributing trays according to dietary requirements, and collecting used trays, all while adhering to strict hygiene and safety standards. This is a physically active role that requires attention to detail and a compassionate approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport food trolleys to designated patient wards.
  • Deliver patient meal trays accurately, verifying patient identity and dietary requirements.
  • Assist patients with opening containers or cutting food as needed, within scope of role.
  • Collect used meal trays and return trolleys to the kitchen area.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all food handling processes.
  • Report any patient feedback or concerns regarding meals to the catering team.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including infection control.
  • Engage with patients in a polite, respectful, and compassionate manner.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Good physical stamina for frequent walking, pushing, and lifting.
