Job Description

Mantra Gladstone is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Hotel Maintenance Helper to join our dedicated property services team. No prior experience is required – we are looking for individuals eager to learn, who are reliable, and possess a can-do attitude. In this entry-level role, you will receive comprehensive on-the-job training in a variety of maintenance tasks, from basic repairs to general upkeep, ensuring our hotel facilities remain in top condition for our guests. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, gaining valuable skills in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general facility maintenance. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop a trade skill set within the hospitality industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled technicians with various maintenance tasks across the hotel property.
  • Perform general upkeep and preventative maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Learn to operate and maintain basic tools and equipment safely.
  • Carry out minor repairs and troubleshooting in guest rooms and common areas.
  • Help with painting, plastering, and general carpentry tasks.
  • Support with light plumbing and electrical duties under supervision.
  • Ensure work areas are kept clean, tidy, and safe.
  • Report any major maintenance issues or hazards promptly.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and hotel policies.

Required Skills

  • Strong willingness to learn and develop new practical skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety.
  • Physical aptitude to perform manual tasks (lifting, standing, bending).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service environment (e.g., retail, fast food) is a plus but not required.
  • Valid Australian driver's license (desirable, but not essential).
