Job Description

Spark New Zealand is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Human Resources (HR) Director to lead our HR function in our Nelson office. This pivotal role will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies that align with our overall business objectives, fostering a positive and productive work environment, and ensuring compliance with all employment laws and regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Lead and mentor the HR team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous development.
  • Oversee talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, and training and development.
  • Ensure compliance with all New Zealand employment legislation, health and safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on all HR-related matters, including organisational design, change management, and workforce planning.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Manage the annual HR budget and resources effectively.
  • Facilitate the visa sponsorship process for eligible international candidates, working closely with legal and immigration partners.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management or director-level role.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing HR strategies that support business growth and objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment law and HR best practices.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a high-performing HR team.
  • Strategic thinking with a strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and data analytics.
  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master's degree or relevant HR professional certification (e.g., CPHR NZ).
  • Experience within the telecommunications or a fast-paced technology industry.
  • Proven track record of managing international hires and visa sponsorship processes.
