Job Description
Join our dynamic events team at Hilton San Diego Bayfront as an Ice Sculpting Assistant. This hands-on role involves supporting our lead sculptors in the creation, transportation, and setup of intricate ice designs for a variety of high-profile events. You will work in a cold, controlled environment, requiring physical stamina and a keen eye for detail. Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead sculptors with all stages of ice sculpture production, including block preparation, rough cutting, and finishing details.
- Safely transport ice blocks and finished sculptures using specialized equipment.
- Set up and dismantle ice sculpture displays at various event locations within the hotel.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including proper storage and care of tools and equipment.
- Assist with inventory management of ice blocks and sculpting supplies.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and cold environment guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with the events team to ensure timely and successful execution of event setups.
- Perform creative heavy lifting and physical labor as required.
Required Skills
- Ability to work comfortably and safely in cold environments for extended periods.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift and maneuver heavy objects (up to 75 lbs).
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player.
- Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to artistic instructions.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety procedures.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physically demanding role (e.g., warehouse, construction, production assistant).
- Experience with power tools or specialized equipment.
- Basic artistic aptitude or an interest in sculpture/design.
- Prior experience in a hospitality or events environment.
