Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and compassionate ICU / Critical Care Nurses to join our intensive care units. This is an exceptional opportunity for nurses looking to advance their careers in a leading academic medical centre. As an ICU Nurse, you will provide specialized care to critically ill patients, utilizing advanced monitoring and life-sustaining equipment, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for critically ill patients in the ICU.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Operate and maintain specialized medical equipment, including ventilators, IV pumps, and cardiac monitors.
- Monitor vital signs, interpret lab results, and recognize changes in patient condition, escalating concerns as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians, residents, and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust patient care plans.
- Educate patients and their families about conditions, treatments, and recovery processes.
- Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in electronic health records.
- Participate in emergency response and resuscitation efforts as required.
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control protocols.
- Engage in continuous professional development and training to stay current with critical care best practices.
Required Skills
- Valid license as a Registered Nurse in Quebec (or eligibility for licensure)
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Critical Care setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Proficiency in critical care assessment, intervention, and monitoring techniques.
- Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Compassion and empathy for patients and their families.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Specialty certification in Critical Care Nursing (e.g., CNCC(C)).
- Experience with electronic health record systems specific to critical care.
- Bilingualism (French and English) is a significant asset.
