Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Incident Response Coordinator to join our team in Armidale. This critical role is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the immediate response to various incidents affecting our transport operations, including operational disruptions, security breaches, health and safety incidents, and environmental concerns. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in minimizing impact, ensuring rapid recovery, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations. This position demands a proactive approach, strong leadership, and the ability to perform effectively under pressure, all while ensuring the highest standards of safety and operational continuity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all phases of incident response for transport-related incidents, from detection and containment to eradication and recovery.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive incident response plans and protocols tailored to the transport industry.
  • Act as the primary point of contact during incidents, ensuring clear and timely communication with internal stakeholders, management, and external authorities.
  • Conduct thorough post-incident analysis, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventative actions to enhance future incident preparedness.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transport regulations, safety standards, and company policies during incident management.
  • Manage incident documentation, reporting, and evidence collection processes.
  • Collaborate with security, operations, IT, and HR teams to enhance overall organizational resilience and response capabilities.
  • Provide training and awareness to staff on incident response procedures and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in incident management or emergency response, preferably within the transport, logistics, or a similarly regulated industry.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to quickly assess situations and implement effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership and decision-making capabilities in high-stress environments.
  • Familiarity with incident management frameworks and tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Emergency Management, Security Studies, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as ITIL, Crisis Management, or Security Incident Response.
  • Knowledge of Australian transport regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., Chain of Responsibility).
  • Experience with risk assessment and business continuity planning.
  • First Aid and/or Emergency Warden qualifications.
