Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Infection Control Nurse to join our dedicated team at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma. This crucial role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring infection prevention and control programs to ensure the safety of our patients, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining our high standards of healthcare quality and compliance with national guidelines. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate hospital-wide infection control policies and procedures.
- Conduct surveillance for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and outbreaks, and report findings.
- Educate staff on infection prevention best practices, hand hygiene, isolation precautions, and aseptic techniques.
- Investigate potential infection control breaches and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., CDC, Joint Commission).
- Participate in infection control committee meetings and present relevant data and recommendations.
- Provide guidance on environmental cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization practices.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of infection control activities.
- Stay current with the latest research and guidelines in infection prevention and control.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma or eligibility for licensure.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 1 year in infection control or a related field.
- Strong understanding of epidemiology, microbiology, and infectious disease principles.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to analyze data and develop actionable infection prevention strategies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or willingness to obtain within 1 year of hire.
- Experience in a large acute care hospital setting.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
