Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced IT Project Manager to join our dynamic team in Plymouth. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and closing IT projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required specifications. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including technical teams, business units, and external vendors, to define project scope, goals, and deliverables. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent communication and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and implementation of IT projects, from initiation to closure.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Develop full-scale project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget management.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an IT Project Manager or similar role.
  • Solid understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Experience with project management software tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, Asana).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate project teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 certification.
  • Experience within the defence, engineering, or public sector industries.
  • Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
