Job Description
We are seeking a enthusiastic and reliable Kennel Assistant to join our team for casual day work. If you have a genuine love for dogs and other animals, are a hard worker, and are looking for a flexible role, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals eager to learn and contribute to a caring animal environment. Full training will be provided, so no prior experience in a kennel setting is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Feeding and watering animals according to strict schedules and dietary needs.
- Cleaning and sanitizing kennels, runs, and other animal housing areas thoroughly.
- Walking dogs and providing supervised exercise and playtime.
- Monitoring animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to senior staff.
- Assisting with bathing and basic grooming tasks.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the clinic premises.
- Restocking supplies such as food, bedding, and cleaning products.
- Handling animals safely and humanely at all times.
Required Skills
- Genuine love and compassion for animals, especially dogs.
- Reliability and strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously.
- Physical stamina to handle demanding tasks, including lifting and cleaning.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in an animal care setting (volunteer or paid) is a plus but not required.
- Basic knowledge of animal behavior.
- Animal first aid certification.
