Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and efficient Laundry Sorter to join our hotel services team in Santa Cruz, CA. In this vital on-site role, you will be responsible for the initial sorting of all hotel linens and guest laundry, ensuring proper separation based on type, color, and degree of soiling before washing. This position requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work consistently in a fast-paced environment with regular shifts. You will play a crucial part in maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction our hotel is known for.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort all incoming soiled linens (sheets, towels, pillowcases, napkins, etc.) according to established hotel procedures.
- Separate items by type, color, fabric, and level of soil to optimize washing processes.
- Inspect linens for damage, stains, or foreign objects (e.g., guest items, sharp objects) before washing and report findings.
- Load laundry into appropriate bins or carts for transport to washing machines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in the laundry facility.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards and procedures.
- Assist with other laundry room tasks as needed, including folding or stocking.
- Work cooperatively with other laundry and hotel staff to ensure smooth operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds frequently throughout a shift.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Basic understanding of cleanliness and hygiene standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a laundry or similar physical role, preferably within a hospitality setting.
- Familiarity with various types of fabrics and basic sorting principles.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
