Job Description

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Youth Offending Team Assistant to join our rewarding team in Bristol. You will provide essential administrative and practical support to our Youth Offending Officers, helping to ensure the smooth operation of services aimed at reducing reoffending and promoting positive outcomes for young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Youth Offending Team, including data entry, record keeping, and managing correspondence.
  • Assist in arranging and coordinating appointments, meetings, and interventions for young people and their families.
  • Liaise effectively with internal departments, external agencies, and community partners.
  • Prepare and maintain case files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Support Youth Offending Officers with practical tasks, such as preparing materials for sessions or collating reports.
  • Handle telephone and email enquiries, directing them appropriately and providing information where authorized.
  • Contribute to the positive and supportive environment of the team, upholding the council's values.

Required Skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • A compassionate and non-judgmental approach to working with young people.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • A commitment to confidentiality and data protection.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GCSEs or equivalent qualifications, including English and Maths.
  • Previous experience (paid or voluntary) working with young people or in an administrative capacity.
  • Understanding of the issues affecting young people and families, particularly in relation to youth justice.
  • Knowledge of local government or public sector environments.
