Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Offending Team Assistant to join our local council. This rewarding role involves providing crucial administrative and logistical support to the Youth Offending Team (YOT), contributing directly to the effective delivery of services for young people involved in the justice system. You will play a vital part in helping the team achieve positive outcomes, ensuring young people receive the support and interventions they need to move forward constructively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Youth Offending Team, including data entry, filing, and managing correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records and case management systems.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, and interventions for YOT officers and young people.
  • Liaise effectively with internal departments, external agencies, and community partners.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and other documents as required.
  • Handle telephone calls and inquiries, providing initial information and directing calls appropriately.
  • Assist with the organization of team events, training, and workshops.
  • Support the financial administration processes for the team, including processing invoices and expense claims.

Required Skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • A compassionate and non-judgmental approach to working with young people and their families.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous administrative experience, ideally within a social services, public sector, or youth-focused environment.
  • Familiarity with local government structures and processes.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by young people involved in the youth justice system.
  • Relevant certifications or coursework in administration, social work, or criminal justice.
