Job Description
We are seeking a talented and driven Machine Learning Engineer to join our dynamic and fast-paced data analytics startup team within Canva’s Fremantle innovation hub. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and deploying robust machine learning models and data pipelines that drive insights and enhance our core products. You will work closely with data scientists, product managers, and software engineers to translate complex business problems into scalable ML solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement scalable machine learning models and algorithms for various data analytics applications.
- Build and maintain robust data pipelines and ETL processes to support ML model training and inference.
- Collaborate with data scientists to research and experiment with new ML techniques and technologies.
- Deploy, monitor, and optimize ML models in production environments, ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Evaluate model performance, interpret results, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to the entire ML lifecycle, from problem definition and data exploration to model deployment and maintenance.
- Participate in code reviews, contribute to architectural discussions, and promote best practices in ML engineering.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in machine learning, data science, and cloud technologies.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Python and its ML ecosystem (Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and principles.
- Experience with data manipulation and analysis libraries (Pandas, NumPy).
- Solid experience with SQL and working with large datasets.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for ML model deployment and data processing.
- Understanding of software engineering best practices, including version control (Git) and testing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with MLOps tools and practices.
- Previous experience working in an agile or startup environment.
- Knowledge of A/B testing and experimental design.
