Job Description

As a Mathematics & Statistics Intern in our Quantitative Research group, you will gain hands-on experience applying advanced mathematical and statistical techniques to real-world financial problems. You will work alongside experienced quantitative analysts, contributing to projects involving data analysis, model development, and validation. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop your analytical skills in a dynamic financial services environment, with exposure to various asset classes and market behaviors. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in collecting, cleaning, and analyzing large datasets using statistical software and programming languages.
  • Support the development, testing, and implementation of quantitative models for risk management, portfolio optimization, or trading strategies.
  • Conduct literature reviews and research on quantitative finance topics and methodologies.
  • Prepare and present findings to the quantitative research team.
  • Document methodologies, data sources, and model assumptions.
  • Learn about financial markets, instruments, and quantitative finance concepts.

Required Skills

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Quantitative Finance, Computer Science, or a related highly quantitative field.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of probability, statistics, linear algebra, and calculus.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used for data analysis (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB).
  • Familiarity with data manipulation and statistical analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SciPy in Python; tidyverse in R).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative concepts clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous coursework in econometrics, time series analysis, machine learning, or financial engineering.
  • Experience with SQL for database querying.
  • Understanding of financial markets and investment products.
  • Participation in quantitative competitions or research projects.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
