Job Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Engineer with expertise in HVAC systems to join our dynamic team in Omaha, NE. This role involves comprehensive design, analysis, and project management for a wide range of building projects, ensuring optimal indoor environmental quality, energy efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. You will be instrumental in developing innovative HVAC solutions from conceptualization through commissioning. Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyze HVAC systems for various commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities.
- Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Perform load calculations, duct sizing, pipe sizing, and equipment selection.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, etc.), and client requirements.
- Coordinate with architects, electrical engineers, plumbing engineers, and other disciplines.
- Participate in client meetings and project presentations.
- Conduct site visits during construction to monitor progress and resolve field issues.
- Contribute to the development of project schedules and budgets.
- Utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools and other relevant software for design and documentation.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in HVAC system design for buildings.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
- Strong understanding of HVAC principles, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, IMC, IECC).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, multidisciplinary environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or actively working towards licensure.
- LEED Accreditation or experience with sustainable design principles.
- Experience with energy modeling software (e.g., Trane TRACE 700, Carrier HAP).
- Experience with different project delivery methods (e.g., Design-Build, IPD).
- Previous experience working on international projects.
