Job Description
Are you a passionate musician with a knack for sales and a deep knowledge of guitars and keyboards? Guitar Center in Peoria, IL is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Musical Instrument Sales Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will be the face of our brand, helping customers find the perfect gear to fuel their musical journey. Your primary responsibility will be to provide outstanding customer service, demonstrate products, and drive sales of guitars, keyboards, and related accessories. We are looking for someone who genuinely loves music, is proficient in playing guitar and/or keys, and thrives in a commission-driven retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage customers in a friendly and knowledgeable manner, providing expert advice on musical instruments, especially guitars and keyboards.
- Demonstrate products effectively, showcasing features and benefits to help customers make informed purchasing decisions.
- Actively listen to customer needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using our point-of-sale system.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor, ensuring products are well-stocked and displayed.
- Meet and exceed individual and team sales targets and key performance indicators.
- Stay up-to-date on new products, industry trends, and competitor offerings.
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving, pricing, and merchandising.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
Required Skills
- Proven proficiency in playing guitar and/or keyboards, with strong product knowledge.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach.
- Minimum of 1 year of retail sales or customer service experience, preferably in a commission-based role.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-energy retail environment.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new systems.
- A genuine passion for music and musical instruments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous sales experience within the musical instrument retail industry.
- Formal music education or extensive informal experience.
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Knowledge of recording equipment, live sound, or other musical accessories.
