Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Mustering Offsider to join our team on a remote station located in the Port Augusta region. This full-time position is ideal for individuals with a genuine ‘can-do’ attitude, a love for the outdoors, and prior experience living or working in outback conditions. As an Offsider, you will play a crucial role in the daily mustering operations, working closely with experienced stockmen and women. This is a hands-on role requiring physical fitness, teamwork, and an adaptable spirit to thrive in a remote station environment. Meals and on-site accommodation are provided as part of the remuneration package.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with all aspects of cattle mustering, including drafting, droving, and yard work.
- Work effectively as part of a team to move and manage livestock.
- Maintain and care for horses and equipment used in mustering operations.
- Perform general station duties as required, including fencing, water run checks, and infrastructure maintenance.
- Adhere strictly to animal welfare standards and workplace health and safety protocols.
- Operate vehicles and machinery safely, as directed and qualified.
Required Skills
- Proven experience living or working in an outback or remote rural setting (minimum 12 months).
- Basic horse riding ability and confidence working around livestock.
- Strong work ethic and ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Resilience and adaptability to remote living conditions.
- Commitment to animal welfare and safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous mustering or station hand experience.
- Manual driver's license (e.g., HR or LR class).
- First Aid certification.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for vehicle and machinery maintenance.
- Experience with motorbike or ATV operation.
