Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Natural Language Processing (NLP) Intern to join our innovative AI Labs in Sault Ste. Marie. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the exciting field of AI and NLP within the financial technology sector. As an NLP Intern, you will work closely with our experienced data scientists and engineers, assisting in the development, testing, and deployment of NLP-driven solutions. This role is perfect for students or recent graduates eager to apply their academic knowledge to real-world challenges and develop crucial industry skills. Full training and mentorship will be provided to ensure your success.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the collection, annotation, and preprocessing of textual data for NLP models.
- Support the design, implementation, and evaluation of various NLP algorithms and models.
- Contribute to the development of internal tools and scripts to automate NLP tasks.
- Conduct literature reviews to stay abreast of the latest advancements in NLP and AI.
- Collaborate with team members on research projects, data analysis, and model interpretation.
- Prepare clear documentation of methodologies, code, and experimental results.
- Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and project discussions.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Linguistics, Data Science, or a related technical field.
- Basic understanding of machine learning and deep learning fundamentals.
- Proficiency in Python programming language.
- Familiarity with common NLP libraries (e.g., NLTK, spaCy, Hugging Face Transformers).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) for data storage and processing.
- Previous experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
