Key Responsibilities
- Participate in a structured training program to gain a deep understanding of environmental health legislation, policies, and best practices.
- Assist qualified Environmental Health Officers in conducting inspections and investigations across various premises (e.g., food businesses, private housing, workplaces).
- Learn to identify and assess potential risks to public health and the environment.
- Support the preparation of reports and documentation related to inspections and investigations.
- Respond to and investigate complaints from members of the public regarding environmental health matters, under supervision.
- Communicate effectively with businesses and residents, providing advice and guidance on compliance.
- Attend relevant professional development courses and workshops as part of your training pathway.
- Develop an understanding of statutory nuisance, pollution control, and public health enforcement procedures.
Required Skills
- Strong desire to learn and develop a career in environmental health.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to gather and record information accurately.
- Good problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to tasks.
- Proficiency in basic IT applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle (or willingness to obtain one) is essential for site visits across the county.

Preferred Qualifications
