Job Description
We are seeking a talented and experienced Naval Architect to join our dynamic team in Kirkcaldy. This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled professional looking to advance their career within a supportive and innovative environment. The role involves contributing to all phases of vessel design and engineering projects, from conceptualization and feasibility studies to detailed design and in-service support. Key Responsibilities
- Perform hydrostatics and stability calculations, including intact and damage stability.
- Conduct structural analysis using relevant software and classification society rules.
- Develop and review vessel general arrangements, hull forms, and structural drawings.
- Contribute to the specification and selection of marine systems and equipment.
- Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and client consultations.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and project documentation.
- Support the build and commissioning phases, ensuring design integrity.
- Apply regulatory compliance knowledge (IMO, Classification Societies) to designs.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in naval architecture design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, Maxsurf, NUPAS-CADMATIC).
- Strong understanding of marine engineering principles and practices.
- Experience with stability analysis and structural design.
- Knowledge of international maritime regulations and classification society rules.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Naval Architecture or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software.
- Demonstrated experience in a specific vessel type (e.g., offshore, passenger, defense).
- Project management experience in a marine environment.
