Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Naval Architect to join our dynamic team in Kirkcaldy. The role involves contributing to all phases of vessel design and engineering projects, from conceptualization and feasibility studies to detailed design and in-service support. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hydrostatics and stability calculations, including intact and damage stability.
  • Conduct structural analysis using relevant software and classification society rules.
  • Develop and review vessel general arrangements, hull forms, and structural drawings.
  • Contribute to the specification and selection of marine systems and equipment.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and client consultations.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Support the build and commissioning phases, ensuring design integrity.
  • Apply regulatory compliance knowledge (IMO, Classification Societies) to designs.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in naval architecture design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, Maxsurf, NUPAS-CADMATIC).
  • Strong understanding of marine engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience with stability analysis and structural design.
  • Knowledge of international maritime regulations and classification society rules.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Naval Architecture or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software.
  • Demonstrated experience in a specific vessel type (e.g., offshore, passenger, defense).
  • Project management experience in a marine environment.
