Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated team in Penzance. This role involves providing comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and interventions to individuals experiencing a range of physical and mental health conditions within a community or hospital setting. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, helping patients to achieve their maximum level of independence and improve their quality of life through tailored rehabilitation plans, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough occupational therapy assessments to identify client needs, strengths, and goals.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on promoting independence and participation in daily activities.
- Provide advice and prescribe adaptive equipment and assistive technology to enhance functional abilities.
- Carry out home visits and environmental assessments to recommend necessary modifications.
- Work collaboratively with patients, their families, carers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and evaluation of occupational therapy services.
- Participate in supervision, peer support, and continuing professional development activities.
Required Skills
- BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Demonstrable experience working as an Occupational Therapist in a relevant clinical setting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-working skills.
- Strong assessment, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively and prioritize tasks.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practice guidelines in occupational therapy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-registration experience in community rehabilitation, acute care, or mental health.
- Experience supervising junior staff or students.
- Further training or specialization in areas such as neuro-rehabilitation, complex seating, or cognitive rehabilitation.
