Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and patient-focused Optometrist to join our busy Specsavers store in Rockhampton, QLD. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine your clinical expertise with a dynamic retail environment, supported by a strong and incentivising high commission structure. You will be responsible for delivering comprehensive eye care services, conducting thorough eye examinations, and providing expert advice on optical solutions. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, including ocular health assessments, visual acuity tests, and refractive error measurements.
  • Diagnose and manage various ocular conditions, referring patients to ophthalmologists or other specialists when necessary.
  • Prescribe and fit optical appliances, ensuring optimal vision correction and patient comfort.
  • Provide clear and concise patient education on eye health, preventative care, and product options.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with professional standards and company policies.
  • Collaborate effectively with dispensing opticians and retail staff to ensure a seamless patient journey.
  • Contribute to the commercial success of the store through effective communication and product recommendation.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in optometry and participate in continuous professional development.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor of Optometry or equivalent qualification.
  • Current registration with the Optometry Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated strong clinical judgment and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-first approach.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude.
  • Proficiency in using modern optometric equipment and technology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience as a practicing Optometrist.
  • Experience with advanced diagnostic equipment (e.g., OCT, visual fields).
  • Retail optical experience with an understanding of sales and customer service best practices.
  • Therapeutic endorsement is highly regarded.
