Job Description
We are seeking a talented and experienced Naval Architect to join our dynamic team in Campbell River, BC. This critical role involves contributing to the design, analysis, and construction of diverse marine vessels. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, problem-solving skills, and a passion for maritime engineering. This position comes with a comprehensive visa sponsorship and relocation package to support international candidates in making Canada their new home.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed design and analysis for hull structures, stability, and hydrodynamics of various vessel types.
- Develop technical specifications, drawings, and reports for new builds, modifications, and repair projects.
- Conduct stability assessments, weight estimations, and regulatory compliance checks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, project management, and other engineering disciplines.
- Utilize CAD/CAE software for design, modeling, and simulation.
- Participate in sea trials and vessel inspections, providing technical support as needed.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and technological advancements.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 36 months of professional experience as a Naval Architect.
- Proficiency in marine design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, Maxsurf, NAPA).
- Strong understanding of naval architecture principles, ship theory, and marine engineering.
- Knowledge of international maritime regulations (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL, Classification Society Rules).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Naval Architecture or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration in British Columbia.
- Experience with large-scale shipbuilding projects.
- Familiarity with production processes and shipyard operations.
- Project management experience in a marine environment.
