Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our Social Services team as a Palliative Care & Hospice Intern. This entry-level internship offers an unparalleled opportunity to gain hands-on experience and insight into the vital role of social services within a palliative care and hospice setting. You will work alongside experienced professionals, learning to provide essential support to patients and their families, navigate complex social issues, and contribute to a holistic care approach. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist social workers and healthcare professionals in delivering comprehensive support to palliative care patients and their families.
  • Provide emotional support and active listening to patients and families under supervision.
  • Help identify and access community resources, benefits, and support networks for patients.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to contribute to care planning and patient assessments.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and documentation.
  • Observe and learn about crisis intervention, grief counseling, and end-of-life planning.
  • Undertake administrative tasks as required to support the social services team.
  • Adhere to all relevant healthcare policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.

  • Understanding of basic medical terminology.
  • First Aid certification.
