Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pathology Collector with a strong focus on phlebotomy to join our dynamic team at ACT Pathology. This full-time position is vital in supporting the diagnostic process by accurately and safely collecting pathology samples from patients across various clinical settings. You will be instrumental in ensuring patient comfort, maintaining strict adherence to collection protocols, and contributing to the overall efficiency of our laboratory services. Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure you meet our high standards of care and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures (e.g., swabs, urine) with precision and empathy.
- Verify patient identity and requisition details accurately to ensure correct sample collection.
- Label and prepare specimens for transport, adhering to strict laboratory protocols and safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe collection environment.
- Provide clear instructions and support to patients, ensuring their comfort and understanding throughout the collection process.
- Manage patient inquiries and provide appropriate information regarding specimen collection procedures.
- Adhere to all relevant WHS policies, infection control procedures, and ethical guidelines.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
- Document all collection activities accurately in electronic systems.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-first approach.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to follow strict procedures and protocols.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and record-keeping.

- Ability to complete comprehensive training provided by ACT Pathology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in Pathology Collection (or equivalent).
- Previous experience in a customer service or patient-facing role.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
