Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Petroleum Geologist to join our dynamic exploration and production team in Richmond, British Columbia. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to Suncor’s long-term growth and innovative projects. The successful candidate will be instrumental in analyzing geological data, identifying prospective drilling locations, and optimizing reservoir performance. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed geological interpretations of seismic data, well logs, and core samples.
- Develop and maintain geological models for reservoir characterization and simulation.
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend prospective drilling locations for oil and gas exploration and development.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling engineers.
- Prepare comprehensive geological reports, presentations, and maps.
- Participate in well planning, operations, and post-drilling evaluations.
- Monitor drilling progress and provide geological supervision at well sites as required.
- Stay abreast of new geological technologies and industry best practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience as a Petroleum Geologist.
- Proficiency in geological software packages (e.g., Petrel, Geographix, Kingdom).
- Strong understanding of depositional environments, structural geology, and petroleum systems.
- Experience with seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and core description.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Petroleum Geology or a related field.
- Experience with unconventional resources (e.g., tight oil, shale gas).
- Familiarity with reservoir modeling and simulation workflows.
- Professional Geologist (P.Geo) designation or eligibility for registration in British Columbia.
- Previous experience working on Canadian or international oil and gas projects.
