Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Piping Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in Aurora, IL. This role is crucial for the development and execution of various industrial and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of piping systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications. Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed piping design, including 3D modeling, layout, and drafting using CAD software.
- Develop piping specifications, material requisitions, and bill of materials.
- Conduct stress analysis of piping systems using specialized software to ensure structural integrity and operational safety.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams (process, mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation) to integrate piping designs seamlessly.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, P&IDs, and isometric drawings.
- Participate in design reviews, hazard assessments, and constructability studies.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry codes (ASME B31.1, B31.3) and project standards.
- Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, and construction phases.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in piping design within industrial or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D, SmartPlant 3D, PDMS, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with piping stress analysis software (e.g., CAESAR II, AutoPIPE).
- Strong understanding of piping materials, components, and fabrication processes.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31 series).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or working towards one.
- Experience with laser scanning and point cloud data for existing facilities.
- Prior experience working on large-scale international projects.
- Knowledge of advanced piping design techniques and materials.
