Job Description
Are you a passionate and enthusiastic student looking to kick-start your career in Public Relations and Brand Communication? Tourism Tasmania is offering an exciting student placement opportunity for individuals with no prior experience, eager to learn and contribute to our dynamic team. This placement provides invaluable hands-on experience in a supportive environment where you will gain exposure to real-world brand communication strategies, media relations, content creation, and stakeholder engagement within the vibrant tourism sector. Full training and mentorship will be provided, ensuring you develop foundational skills and understanding crucial for a successful career in PR.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and distribution of press releases, media kits, and other communication materials.
- Support the management of social media content calendars and engagement initiatives.
- Conduct media monitoring and compile reports on brand mentions and industry trends.
- Aid in event planning and coordination for media familiarisation trips and promotional activities.
- Contribute to the creation of compelling content for various communication channels, including websites and newsletters.
- Support internal communication efforts and stakeholder engagement.
- Perform administrative tasks to support the PR and Brand Communication team.
Required Skills
- Enthusiasm and a strong desire to learn about PR and brand communication.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a degree program related to Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a similar field.
