Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Print Production Manager to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our commercial printing production, ensuring efficiency, quality, and timely delivery of projects. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in print processes, and excellent organizational skills to manage staff, resources, and client expectations effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize the daily workflow of the print production department.
- Supervise, train, and mentor production staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Ensure all print jobs are produced to the highest quality standards and client specifications.
- Develop and implement production schedules, ensuring deadlines are met and resources are efficiently utilized.
- Liaise closely with the sales team and clients to understand project requirements and provide technical guidance.
- Oversee maintenance and calibration of printing equipment, scheduling repairs as needed.
- Monitor inventory levels of paper, ink, and other consumables, placing orders to prevent shortages.
- Implement and enforce health and safety protocols within the production area.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions, continuously seeking process improvements.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Production Manager in a commercial printing environment (minimum 4 years).
- In-depth knowledge of various printing technologies (offset, digital, large format) and finishing processes.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Proficiency in print production software and management information systems (MIS).
- Exceptional attention to detail and quality control.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Print Media, Graphic Arts, or a related field.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles in a production setting.
- Certification in workplace health and safety.
- Knowledge of sustainable printing practices.
