Job Description

As a Public Housing Coordinator, you will play a vital role in the effective management and delivery of public housing services within our local authority. This position involves coordinating various aspects of tenant relations, property management liaison, and administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of our housing programs. You will be the primary point of contact for tenants, addressing inquiries, facilitating access to resources, and ensuring compliance with housing policies and regulations. This is a dynamic role requiring strong organizational skills, empathy, and a commitment to public service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for public housing tenants, addressing inquiries, concerns, and requests.
  • Assist with tenant intake processes, including application review, eligibility verification, and lease agreements.
  • Coordinate with property management and maintenance teams to ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues and property upkeep.
  • Monitor tenant compliance with lease terms, housing policies, and community guidelines.
  • Process rent payments, track arrears, and assist with rent subsidy calculations and adjustments.
  • Refer tenants to appropriate support services, community resources, and programs as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential tenant records, ensuring data integrity and privacy.
  • Prepare reports and documentation related to tenant occupancy, service delivery, and program performance.
  • Participate in community engagement activities and tenant meetings to foster positive resident relations.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to enhance housing services and tenant support.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in property management, social services, public administration, or a related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and demonstrate empathy.
  • Knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal housing policies and regulations.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to handle sensitive situations professionally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with housing management software or CRM systems.
  • Knowledge of community resources and support services available in London, Ontario.
  • Valid G Class driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
